Giose Rimanelli was born in Casacalenda (Molise), Italy, on November 28, 1925. The majority of his biography can be gleaned from his various novels, starting with

Rimanelli is the first child of Concetta and Vincenzo Rimanelli, in turn the first-born child of Giuseppe Rimanelli, an illegitimate offspring of a wealthy man in the town, Don Leo Marinelli. After relinquishing the infant to another, Marinelli insisted that the child be named Giuseppe
