Gabrielle de Coignard (c.1550-1586) was a French devotional poet writing in Toulouse at the end of the sixteenth century. From what little is known about her early life, Coignard was likely born into a parliamentary family in Toulouse around 1550, making her part of the social and political elite and exposing her to a variety of spiritual and artistic traditions engrained into the fabric of the Catholic city.
