Jennifer Marston William

Jennifer Marston William (PhD in German Literature, Ohio State University, 2002) is currently Professor of German and Head of the School of Languages and Cultures at Purdue University. Courses taught include seminars on German Expressionism, German-Language Literature since 1945, German Drama from Naturalism to the Present, and Modern European Women Writers. Her scholarly articles have been published in journals including The German Quarterly, The Germanic Review, German Studies Review, Seminar: A Journal of Germanic Studies, Unterrichtspraxis / Teaching German, The Journal of the Kafka Society of America, and The Brecht Yearbook. She co-edited with Dr. Helen Fehervary of the Aufbau critical editions of Anna Seghers' works Aufstand der Fischer von St. Barbara (2002) and Die Gefährten (2022), as well as Seghers' novel Die Rettung (forthcoming) with Dr. Peter Beicken. 

She has published three monographs: Killing Time: Waiting Hierarchies in the Twentieth-Century German Novel (Bucknell UP, 2010); Cognitive Approaches to German Historical Film: Seeing is Not Believing (Palgrave Macmillan, 2017); and, co-authored with Dr. Howard Mancing, Restoring the Human Context to Literary and Performance Studies: Voices in Everything (Palgrave Macmillan, 2022).
