Marion Treby

Since gaining her PhD at Anglia Ruskin University, Marion Treby has published on Shelagh Delaney, Roald Dahl, and, with Professor Gina Wisker, on Toni Morrison. In 2008, she began writing jointly with Val Scullion on the late-Romantic German polymath, E.T.A. Hoffmann. Their monograph Musical Transformations (2016) considers the relationship between his opera, Undine, and the fairy tales he was writing contemporaneously. Their most recent co-authored pieces include: “Interpreting the Creative Spark: Intertextuality and Remediation in in the Critical Work of Bloom and Hutcheon in Relation to the Fiction of E. T. A. Hoffmann” (2019); “The Romantic Context of E.T.A. Hoffmann’s Fairy Tales, The Golden Pot, The Strange Child and The Nutcracker and the Mouse King” (2020) and “Feline Affinities Between E. T. A. Hoffmann’s The Life and Opinions of the Tomcat Murr and Natsume Sōseki’s I am a Cat” (2021).
