James Davis

Dr James Davis was an undergraduate at the University of Durham and a postgraduate at the University of Cambridge, completing a PhD on retail trade and market culture in late medieval England. He was appointed to his present post of Lecturer in Medieval History at Queen's University Belfast in September 2005. Dr Davis’s main research interests focus upon medieval social and economic history, particularly medieval English towns, markets and trade. His book, Medieval Market Morality: Life, Law and Ethics in the English Marketplace, 1200-1500 (CUP, Cambridge, 2012) examines the market culture of medieval England through a variety of literary and legal sources. He has also worked and published on the early-Reformation heretical book trade.
