Sabine Grebe

Sabine Grebe studied Ancient Greek, Latin, and History at Heidelberg University where she also wrote her Dissertation and Habilitation. She was author of Martianus Capella: 'De nuptiis Philologiae et Mercurii'. Darstellung der sieben freien Künste und ihrer Beziehungen zueinander [Martianus Capella: 'De nuptiis Philologiae et Mercurii'. Discussion of the Seven Liberal Arts and the Relationships amongst them] (Leipzig and Stuttgart: Teubner 1999 [Habilitationsschrift]) and Die vergilische Heldenschau. Tradition und Fortwirken [Vergil's Pageant of Heroes. Tradition and Reception] (Frankfurt a.M.: Peter Lang 1989 [Dissertation]). She co-authored PONS-Globalwörterbuch lateinisch-deutsch [PONS-Comprehensive Dictionary Latin – German] (Stuttgart: Klett 1986). Her thirty articles cover a broad field in Latin Prose and Poetry of the Late Republic (Varro, Cicero), Augustan Period (Vergil, Ovid), Early Empire (Quintilian) and Late Antiquity (Martianus Capella, Prudentius). She taught Latin at Heidelberg University and Classics at Colgate University in Hamilton, NY and at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Since 2005 she taught Classics at the University of Guelph, Guelph, Ontario, Canada. She was also a Member of the Graduate Faculty in the School of Languages and Literatures, University of Guelph and an Adjunct Professor in the joint MA Program in Ancient Mediterranean Cultures at Wilfrid Laurier University / Waterloo University, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
