Stefano Lazzarin

Stefano Lazzarin has been Associate Professor (Maître de Conférences) in Italian Language, Literature and Culture at the University Jean Monnet in Saint-Étienne (France) since 2001. His research interests are in all forms of supernatural literature (the fantastic genre, horror literature, science fiction, magic realism), as well as intertextuality, literary themes, and twentieth-century literary criticism and theory. He is the author of four books: Il modo fantastico [The Fantastic Literary Mode], Rome-Bari: Laterza, 2000; L’ombre et la forme. Du fantastique italien au XXe siècle [The Shadow and the Form. He is also the editor of La critique littéraire du XXe siècle en France et en Italie [Twentieth-Century Literary Criticism in France and Italy], Caen: Presses Universitaires de Caen, 2007. He has published extensively on Italian and French literature, and translated Prosper Mérimée’s The Venus of Ille from French into Italian (La Venere d’Ille, Translated and Annotated by S. L., Lecce: Piero Manni Editore, 1999). Currently he is working on a comprehensive annotated bibliography of Italian fantastic literature and preparing an anthology in French of Italian fantastic short stories from 1800 to 2000 (Récits fantastiques italiens, 1800-2000, Chosen, Translated and Annotated by S. L., Paris: Garnier Frères, forthcoming in 2012).
