Erminia Ardissino
Erminia Ardissino (Ph.D. at Yale University, Dottorato di Ricerca, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan). She has had several essays published on Dante, Petrarch, Humanism, Tasso, Galileo, Baroque Italian Literature, Manzoni, XXth C. Italian poetry in the most important journals in the philological and literary fields. She has published two volumes on Torquato Tasso:“'L'aspra tragedia'. Poesia e sacro in Torquato Tasso" (1996) and "Tasso, Plotino, Ficino. In margine a un postillato" (2003); a volume on baroque sacred oratory: "Il Barocco e il sacro. La predicazione del teatino Paolo Aresi tra letteratura, immagini e scienza" (2001), a book on Italian seventeenth century literature ("Il Seicento", 2005), one on Galileo: "Galileo. La scrittura dell’esperienza. Saggio sulle lettere" (2010), and one on "Narrativa italiana. Storia per generi" (2011). She has prepared the critical editions of ancient texts published by the Commissione per i Testi di Lingua, Bologna, 2001 and 2006, and commented editions of biblical poems (2005), "Trattato delle acutezze" by Matteo Peregrini (1997), and a selection of Galileo’s letters (2008). She has organized two conferences on Dante: "Dialoghi con Dante. Riscritture e ricodificazioni della ‘Commedia’" (2007) and "Etica e teologia nella ‘Commedia’" (2009), and she has published a volume on the liturgical aspects of Dante's poem: "Tempo storico e tempo liturgico nella 'Commedia di Dante'" (2009). She is presently researching on poetry and praying in Italian literature. In her career she obtained several awards: Newberry Library Weiss-Brown Subvention Award; Renaissance Society of America Fellowship; Italian Academy for Advanced Studies at America at Columbia University, Fulbright Distinguished Lecturer at the University of Chicago.
