Michael Hollerich

Michael Hollerich has been a member of the Theology Department since 1993, having previously taught at Santa Clara University, Luther College, St. Mary's College, and the University of Notre Dame. His academic training is in the history of Christianity (B.A. Notre Dame, in theology; M.T.S. Harvard Divinity School, theology and church history; Ph.D. University of Chicago, History of Christianity). His academic publications are primarily in the early Christian period, with a secondary interest in modern German church history. Research and teaching interests include religion and politics, especially political theology; the history of biblical interpretation; and relations between eastern and western Christianity. His most recent book is a translation of papers by the German patristics scholar Erik Peterson, Theological Tractates. Several articles on Eusebius of Caesarea are in press or about to be published. His next project is a book on the reception of Eusebius’ writings and their role in the formation of a Christian cultural tradition. He is co-editor, with Catherine Cory, of the third edition of the department's textbook, The Christian Theological Tradition.
