Sandra McRobert
Sandra McRobert is a PhD student in the French Department of Queen’s University, Belfast. Her thesis deals with the conception of performance in nineteenth-century France and Belgium, specifically in the theatre of Victor Hugo, Alfred de Musset and Maurice Maeterlinck. Her research interests include how these playwrights anticipate modern theatre, how their language and stage directions challenge the stage, and the notion of problematic corporeality in their plays. In Oct 2012 Sandra presented a paper at the ADEFFI conference on the theme of ‘deceleration’, called ‘Undermined, static, symbolized: staging the ‘decelerated’ body in Alfred de Musset’s Spectacle dans un fauteuil (prose) .’
