Olivia Colquitt
Olivia Colquitt obtained her PhD from the University of Liverpool in 2022. Her doctoral research was funded by the AHRC and focused on the Middle English Melusine, reflecting in particular upon the visual frameworks underpinning the construction of female agency and matrilineal identities within the narrative and its contexts. Following this, she worked as a research resident on the UKRI project, Human Remains (PI Ruth Nugent), and as a Lecturer in English at Edge Hill University. She is now a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Düsseldorf and affiliated with the ERC-funded Post-REALM project (PI Miriam Edlich-Muth), which centres on the transmission of the Floire and Blancheflor romance across Europe. Aside from this, Olivia is currently working on a critical edition of Melusine with Sarah Peverley. Her wider research interests include medieval romance, the translation and transmission of medieval texts, manuscript culture, origin myths, and the intersections between gender, embodiment, and environment.
In 2022, Olivia was a guest speaker on a BBC Radio 3 Free Thinking broadcast about Melusine.
