Carmen María López

Carmen María López is an Assistant Professor at the Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM). She holds a BA in Spanish Language and Literature and a PhD in Arts and Humanities from the University of Murcia (Spain). She has been a visiting scholar at several universities in Europe (Edinburgh, Glasgow and Oxford). Her field of expertise is Spanish Literature, Theory of Literature and Comparative Literature, with special attention to Contemporary Spanish Narrative and its relationship with Cinema. Her PhD focused on Javier Marías’s narrative and filmic discourse. Right now, she continues her research on 21st century Spanish narrative. Her recent publications include the book El cine en el pensamiento y la creación de Javier Marías (2019), awarded with the X International Prize “Academia del Hispanismo” of scientific and critical research on Spanish Literature, and several articles published in Revista de Literatura, Tonos Digital, Signa. Revista de la Asociación Española de Semiótica, Ínsula. Revista de letras y ciencias humanas, Confluencia. Revista hispánica de cultura y literatura or Anales de la Literatura Española Contemporánea. She is a member of the Spanish Association of Theory of Literature (ASETEL) and the Spanish Association of Literary Critics (AECL).
