Eugene Stickland is a contemporary Canadian playwright of several widely-produced plays, most notably

(2004), all of which premiered at Alberta Theatre Projects' 

playRites

festival in Calgary, Alberta.  He has written at least 14 plays since 1984, in a variety of dramatic genres and formats.  He is also a prominent teacher and mentor, who leads playwriting workshops and writers'  circles across Canada and the United States.  His best-known work,

Some Assembly Required

, was a finalist for the Governor-General's Literary Award in 1995, and has had over 30 productions; in 2000 it was translated into French as
