Sea Prayer(2018), Hosseini’s fourth book, an illustrated volume, turns an intimate gaze on the Syrian refugee crisis.
Born in Kabul on 4 March 1965, Hosseini spent his childhood in the affluent neighbourhood of Wazir Akbar Khan. His parents originated from Afghanistan’s Herat province and settled in Kabul, which was then a peaceful, cosmopolitan city. His father, Nasser Hosseini, was a diplomat of Tajik origin who worked for Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Nasser’s
