The poet was born at Pyrgos of Ilia on the 22nd of June 1924 and died on the 26th of November 2008 in his hometown, where he had lived for most of his life. It was there that the poet attended and graduated from both elementary and high school. His studies in the Law School of the University of Athens were never completed. He worked as an accountant and as a secretary in private enterprises. His poems first appeared in 1943 in
Odysseus, a magazine published by the poet himself. Pavlopoulos was never a very prolific writer, but, in spite of the limited number of works he produced, he is regarded as one of the most distinguished figures of the first postwar generation of poets and a significant representative of modern Greek poetry.
