She is part of the “Generación del 70” [Generation of 1970], a group of writers known for exploring themes and tropes that were new to Puerto Rican narratives (for instance the use of history in the plot for aesthetic purposes, new ways of portraying the proletariat, the presentation of the decline of the middle class, and an emphasis on the literariness of texts). García Ramis uses feminine and/or feminist points of view in many of her texts in order to question strict gender roles and sexist attitudes.…
