Ángela Hernández Núñez is a Dominican writer, photographer, cultural critic, and women’s rights activist. She has received important literary recognitions such as the 1997 Dominican Short Story Award, the 2001 Cole Prize (for her novel
Mudanza de los sentidos[Moving of the Senses] (note 1), the 2005 Dominican Poetry Award, and the 2016 National Literary Prize. Some of her texts have been translated to English, French, Italian, Icelandic, Bengali, and Norwegian.
Ángela Hernández was born in Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic, on May 6, 1954 to Eloy Hernández and Yrene Núñez.
