Zanan Bedun-e Mardan[
Women without Men] (1989), which was adapted into a feature film in 2009. Her novel
Touba va Ma’na-ye Shab[
Touba and the Meaning of Night] (1993) has been translated into German, Italian, Polish, and English and has attracted a wide readership in academic circles in particular (Zarrin-Panah).
Parsipur’s writing style is plain and sincere, yet poignant. Her works unabashedly explore what Iranian fiction has left unexplored in women’s lives, their psyche, their relationship with nature, their embodiment, and their oft-forgotten place in history.
