was published posthumously by the Lyonnais printer Jean de Tournes in 1545, its title was most likely chosen by the editors to convey the Petrarchan character of Pernette’s poetry. Apart from Petrarch, Du Guillet was greatly influenced by the courtly tradition, Neoplatonism, and the poetry of Clément Marot and Maurice Scève. The first edition of
