Mohammad Hejazi (1901-1974), Iranian writer, state official, and senator, was born into an influential family of which the male members served the Qajar shahs (who ruled 1797-1925) as high-ranking state officials. Hejazi’s father was Seyyed Nasr-Ollah Mostowfi, who died when his son was young, which meant that his son had to be enrolled as a state official at a young age. He received his education at a private school,

, and at St. Louis, the French Catholic missionary school for boys in Tehran. In 1921 the Ministry of Post and Telegraph, his employer, sent Hejazi to Paris for studies in politics and telecommunications.
