Nothing could better qualify the life and works of Stelio Maria Martini – Italian visual poet among the most interesting of the twentieth century – than the striking definition that he implicitly chose for himself:

] (1962) – as well as of the fascinating exhibit on experimental journals he organized in Naples in 1986, the formula stands out as an indication of his ethical and creative attitude: that of an anarchic poet separated from the cultural mainstream of his time, engaged with an idea of literature and art completely out of commerce, self-managed, and in permanent opposition to the existent.
