Born in Naples in 1950, Erri De Luca is considered one of the most unique and prolific voices of Italy’s literary scene. Now translated into over thirty languages, his writings as storyteller, novelist, essayist, scriptwriter, playwright, and translator from Ancient Hebrew, Yiddish, and Russian have earned him a dignified place among writers, philosophers, biblical scholars, and cultural critics alike. The award-winning author lives outside Rome in a self-built home that currently houses the Fondazione Erri De Luca. Mountain climbing is his favorite pastime.
