Aamer Hussein is an award-winning British-Pakistani multi-genre author who has written twelve short story collections, two novels, a memoir and a collection of essays. He has also compiled and edited a book of translated Urdu stories by Pakistani women writers. Born on 8 April 1955, Hussein belonged to the privileged English-speaking milieu of a decidedly cosmopolitan Karachi, the city of his birth and the then capital of Pakistan.
