Tahmima Anam is a prominent Bangladeshi-born writer writing in English. She is a British citizen, and lives in London. A keen observer of contemporary life and a talented critic, she regularly writes for prominent British dailies. Her novels on the Bangladesh Liberation War, popularly called the ‘Bengal trilogy’, have established her as one of the best living young writers of our time.
Anam was born on 8 October 1975 in Dhaka in a well-reputed Muslim family. Her paternal grandfather, Abul Mansur Ahmed (1898 - 1979), a renowned politician, writer and journalist, was a recipient of the noted Bangla Academy Literary Award and Independence Day Award.
