Hallgrímur Helgason (b. 1959), author and visual artist, was born and resides in Reykjavík. He has received numerous recognitions for his work. He has won the Icelandic Literary Prize three times for the novel

(2021).

Hallgrímur Helgason published his first novel, Hella, in 1990; at that time, he was primarily known as a multidisciplinary artist. Hallgrímur had already attracted attention for his vigorous column writing for various media and his radio shows for the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service, in addition to being a prominent visual artist.
