Icelandic poet Vilborg Dagbjartsdóttir was born at Hjalli on Vestdalseyri near Seyðisfjörður on 18 July 1930 and died in Reykjavík on 16 September 2021. At seventeen, she moved to Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland. She graduated as a teacher in 1952 and studied drama and later library science at the University of Iceland. Vilborg worked as a writer and elementary school teacher, and was also an active translator; for instance, she translated children’s books by Astrid Lindgren, Maria Gripe, Ulf Löfgren, and James M. Barrie. Additionally, she produced numerous radio programs and managed the children’s page in a newspaper for many years.
