Ettore Cozzani was a catalyst of Italian culture in the early twentieth century whose writings include novels, poems, short stories, and essays on art and literature. He combined his extensive literary endeavours with publishing efforts, first with the foundation of
L’Eroica, an art and literature magazine, and then with the establishment of a publishing house named after the periodical.
Born in La Spezia on 3 January 1884, Ettore Cozzani attended the classical high school in his hometown before moving to Pisa, where he carried out his university studies at the Scuola Normale. During those years, the young Cozzani studied with masters such as literary critic Vittorio Cian, historian Gioacchino Volpe, poet Giovanni Pascoli, and orientalist Carlo Formichi, under whose guidance, in 1907, he
