Vilsoni Tausie Hereniko is a Fijian playwright, screenwriter, and stage and film director. He is also Professor of Pacific Studies at the University of Hawai’i, where he is currently teaching courses in film production and film criticism. He had successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis entitled “Polynesian Clowns and Satirical Comedies” and has worked and published extensively on Oceanian drama ever since. He is certainly the most specialised researcher in this field.
For his plays and other writings, the Hawai’i Literary Arts Council presented the Elliot Cades Writing Award to him in 1997. Among the films for which he was the writer and director, the first Fijian feature film, The Land Has Eyes, received awards at the Toronto Film
