Sharon Pollock was a modern Canadian playwright with twenty-two published plays that have been produced across Canada as well as in the United States, England, Japan, Australia, and Europe. She was an accomplished actor, director, and theatre administrator with extensive experience as an artistic director, theatre manager, and adjudicator. Her international reputation to date is based on the teaching and production of 

Walsh

 (1973) and on 

Blood Relations

 (1981), which received a major new production in the 2003 season at Canada’s prestigious Shaw Festival. Pollock wrote award-winning plays for radio, television, and children’s theatre. Chief among her numerous awards are two Governor General’s Awards for Drama (for
