After 5 days of conferences aboard warships in the Atlantic, Roosevelt and Churchill announced that they had reached an accord. They issued the Atlantic Charter. It housed 8 key points: First, neither nation (Great Britain or United States) sought aggrandizement. Second, they desired no territorial changes absent any agreement with the peoples of that territory. Third, they respected people's right to choose its own form of government and wanted that choice restored wherever it had been taken. Fourth, they would try to promote equal access for all states to trade and to raw materials.
