is Susan Glaspell’s seventh novel. Best known for her work as a playwright with the Provincetown Players during the years 1915-1924, Glaspell was, in addition, a well-known and critically acclaimed novelist for the first four decades of the twentieth century.
The Morning is Near Uswas a Literary Guild Book of the Month choice for April 1940 and sold more than 107,500 copies in its first month of publication. It also led to a lucrative film contract for Glaspell from Columbia Pictures, although in the end it was never produced.
