The Affair

(1960) is a gripping novel that focuses on the reopening of a case in which a young Cambridge scientist, Donald Howard, has been deprived of his fellowship by his college after apparently perpetrating a scientific fraud. It was the eighth novel in Snow’s “Strangers and Brothers” series to be published, and also stands eighth in the sequence as Snow rearranged it for the 1972 omnibus edition.
