Eto ia – Edichka[
It's me, Eddie], published in 1979, deals with the psychological crisis of an émigré Russian poet recently arrived in New York, having been forced to abandon his homeland for political reasons. The protagonist, Eddie, finds himself alone in a strange and indifferent society, deprived of all the factors which previously defined his existence: his mother culture, his status as a poet, and the love of his life, his wife Elena. The trauma of all this brings about a deep sense of insignificance in the protagonist, plunging him into a deep existential crisis.
