Pushkinskii dom] is the title of a major novel by contemporary Russian writer Andrei Bitov. Written from 1964-1971, the novel had a great deal of trouble being published in the Soviet Union before the Gorbachev era of greater freedom. Originally submitted for publication to the Soviet publishing house Soviet Writer [
Sovetskii pisatel’], the novel ran into trouble. A few of its blander excerpts appeared in Soviet journals, but the novel was only published as a whole, in Russian, in the United States, by Ardis Publishers in 1978. The first publication of the novel in the Soviet Union was in the Russian journal
