Coyote StoriesMourning Dove collected a set of stories from the indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest. A third person joined the collaboration she had with McWhorter; Heister Dean Guie was a journalist who helped edit and promote the collection, as well as illustrate it.
Coyote Storiescontains 27 stories, with titles such as “The Spirit Chief Names The Animal People”, “How Turtle Got His Tail”, and “Why Spider Has Such Long Legs”, as well as a preface by Mourning Dove.
