Bernardine Evaristo is a British writer who was born in South East London in 1959. She has produced eight full length books and has been the recipient of multiple literary awards. The daughter of a Nigerian man and an English woman, her plural heritage has been a valuable resource which has influenced her literary career. Much of her fictional work is concerned with exploring themes of race, un/belonging, and the African diaspora in Britain, and what it means for the individuals who occupy this hybrid, liminal position.
