Mrs Leicester’s School, or The History of Several Young Ladies, Related by Themselves

(published 11 November 1808, but dated 1809) was written by Mary and Charles Lamb. Following the publication of

Tales from Shakespear

in 1807, it was the second collaboration between the Lamb siblings to appear under the imprint of the Juvenile Library operated by Mary Jane and William Godwin. The book opens with a dedication supposedly written by a young teacher at Amwell School, a fictional educational establishment for girls operated by Mrs Leicester, who never actually makes an appearance in the text.
