Hernán Pérez de Oliva’s Dramatic Works
Hernán Pérez de Oliva knew that Castilian could only acquire the level of learned language by having good writers. He thus tried to set an example with a trilogy of drama works: the comedy the Muestra de la lengua castellana en el nacimiento de Hércules o Comedia del Anfitrión [Exhibition of Castilian Language in the Birth of Hercules or Comedy of the Amphitrion] (not yet translated) (1524?-1525) and two tragedies, Hécuba triste [Sad Hecuba] (not yet translated) (1519/1524-1528?) and La venganza de Agamenón [Agamemnon’s Revenge] (not yet translated) (1524?-1528).
