(2005) is the fourth volume in George R.R. Martin’s epic neomedieval fantasy series,

A Song of Ice and Fire

(1996-present). The novel topped the

New York Times

bestseller list and received Hugo and Locus award nominations.

A Feast for Crows

has been adapted as HBO’s

Game of Thrones

(2011-2019), primarily as the series’ fifth season.

While A Feast for Crows picks up where its predecessor A Storm of Swords (2000) left off, due to the substantial length of the manuscript, Martin chose to split the novel in two during the publishing process. Thus, A Feast for Crows only contains chapters narrated by about half of the series’ surviving viewpoint characters. The other half of the narrative is told in A Dance with Dragons (2011), the first portion of which takes place
