, when it started publication in mid-1927. When the journal stopped after five issues, the remaining instalments were published in

Saogat.

While Rabindranath Tagore’s novels have been translated, discussed and some, like

Ghare Baire

and

Chokher Bali

, also made into popular movies, Kazi Nazrul Islam’s novels have generally been brushed aside by scholars. Part of the reason is perhaps that they suffer from inherent structural defects.
