(October 1917) by Edward Thomas was the first substantial collection of the poet’s work, published posthumously six months after his death at the Battle of Arras. Its contents had been selected and approved by Thomas himself by October 1916. The book first appeared under the pen-name “Edward Eastaway”, which he had previously used when publishing a few of his poems in anthologies and in a 1916 booklet.
