Kristni saga

[The Book of Christianity] is a medieval account of the Christianisation of Iceland at the turn of the millennium and the history of the early Icelandic church. It dates from the middle of the thirteenth century.

Kristni saga 

was written in Iceland, incorporating elements of Ari Þorgilsson’s

Íslendingabók

[Book of the Icelanders] from the early twelfth century, but with much new material. In its earliest surviving version, written between 1306 and 1308 in the great compilation Hauksbók, it is a continuation of the narrative of the

Landnámabók

[Book of Settlements]. It is believed to have been added to the

Landnámabók

around 1240, in a version similar to the extant

Sturlubók

and

Hauksbók

. There is no evidence that earlier versions of

Landnámabók
