Chanson de la Croisade albigeoise

], is a verse narrative in Old Occitan comprising 214 

laisses 

[stanzas] of varying length amounting to roughly 9500 lines. The poem was composed in two distinct parts, the first attributed to Guilhem de Tudela, and the second to an anonymous continuator commonly referred to as the Anonymous. Guilhem’s contribution, which accounts for the first 2700 lines, was composed between 1210 and 1213 and covers the events of 1208 through 1213. The Anonymous takes up and completes the poem between 1228 and 1229, picking up the narrative events from 1213 through 1219 (Martin-Chabot xi-xii; Zink 16–22).
